Founded in 2018, Quiet Storm is a passion project for its members. Editor Adi Bracken noticed a lack of literary representation and submission venues where illness is concerned. She encountered other writers actively agreeing and wanting to give voice to the often hidden and hushed experiences of illness. Quiet Storm was born from this void in the literary world, and its staff is composed of those writers wanting to read more honest, open content about what the word "sick" means.
We are a literary magazine dedicated to publishing works that fight the stigmatization of illness. Whether physical or mental, illness impacts or has impacted us all in some way. The journey illness takes us on is rarely straightforward and often full of unknowns. We want to break the barrier of discreet conversations and help other writers transcend the silent nature of suffering.
Quiet Storm accepts high quality fiction, nonfiction, and poetry submissions. Fiction and nonfiction should be under 3,000 words. Poetry should be under 3 pages. We also accept hybrid works, experimental styles, and art submissions.
